honestly, no, the vertigo stories are no where near my favorites. it's probablly my least favorite version of buddy. for me, 1 of the reason's i like buddy so much is he seems to be "1 of us". i can usually relate to whatever issue buddy is having. the vertigo stuff was way too unbelievable for me.
i think if they went vertigo w/ him but kept him as the superhero, i may feel differently.

I have a question for everyone. Did anybody enjoy the vertigo Animal Man? Was it anyones favorite incarnation of Buddy, and why? I think the why is the most important. I wouldn't think your opinions were not valid. I'm just curious. Mino, They turned Buddy into a god or something. He was supposed to be an "happy-go-lucky" Superhero who discovers to be a very special being in a very special universe... not a powerful god going to build an useless and ridiculous church. I say only Milligan's run is "legit". And barely.

I kind of enjoyed Milligans run on Animal Man. He had some interesting characters/villains, and he wasn't nearly as bad as some of the other writers. I'm looking at you Veitch.
The only thing to come out of the other storylines were Maxines possible animal powers. Although it might be a little too much like Tefe inheriting Swamp Things powers, it would still be cool.

maxine haveing animal powers would still work today. since buddy had the powers before cliff and maxine came along, it wouldn't be a stretch for buddy to have passed something on to either/both of them.
