Hello A-Men,
Since I'm writing a detailed Post-Crisis Animal Man database, I NEED to know some details about the Pre-Crisis Animal Man's secret origins narrated on 'Strange Adventures' #180 and partly on #184, in order to fully "reconstruct" Buddy's life - Morrison implies that the dynamics of the origins are the same for both the A-Men. Specifically I need to know:
1- If, on the issues, Buddy's real birthname is ever mentioned ("Bernhard").
2- the place where the spacecraft exploded, and all the details related to the accident. I don't really think it happened on he Adirondack Mountains, rather on a californian hill. I think the absurd, unbelievable "Adirondack tidbit" was one of those details that popped-up in the runs following Morrison.
Many thanks!

I have #180. I didn't see anything except "Buddy" mentioned for his name. There was also no reference to any particular place on a map where he got his powers.

In Wonder Woman #267, the Pre-Crisis A-Man mentioned that the accident occurred on a mountains area, east of Los Angeles. Okay, let's face the truth: the Post-Crisis Buddy was just a punk, and I heavily doubt that he travelled to the New York State to do an hunt and have a little bit of fun. Stoopid. Above all... let's stop with the San Diego rant, A-Man belongs to L.A.! The writers following Morrison screwed it all. Can you give us a detailed account of #180? I will issue it in the M-FIELD section.

NO, it was L.A.
Buddy flew to San Diego because the "problem" at the Star Labs (B'Wana Beast).
His run is plenty of clues on this.
