Well, issue #1 hit the stores today. Aside from Cable (only Marvel comic I read) this was the only comic I picked up today.
It's a good set up issue, thats for sure. Not a whole lot of Animal Man, but i'll give you a couple spoilers:
Comet visited the JLA. Basically said the "Big dudes" in space figure Earth will wipe itself out within 20 years. Not even planning an Invasion, because the Earth will screw itself over. This leaves a rather shocked look on the Leagues collective face.
Hawkman found the people of Thanagar now worshiping yet another benevolent "god".
Strange has found that, while cured, the people of Rann are actually worshipping the Lady Styx of their own volition. He is very distraught over this.
Strange goes to get Buddy and Kori for help - his plan is to use their combined memories, and have Comet forcefully expose the people of Rann to said memories (of Lady Styx)
Comet wants nothing to do with Strange, and refuses to accept any more "jobs" that might involve death. Much to the dissapointment of Tyrone (the dog).
Prince Gavyn is on Throneworld, where he encounters Bizarro. Bizarro is "found" meaning his lost. Gavyn befriends the mixed up monster and the two go to grab some thing to eat.
Small scene with Tigor, another small scene with Max.
Thats all for now, going to go re-read it now. All in all I give it 4/5, the series looks promising ;D

Good to know. I can go more in depth if you want, but that is the basic situation.
Scans available upon request.

Friends,
DURING the Crisis on the Infinite Earths, it was the Pre-Crisis Earth-One Animal Man to fight along his teammates (The Forgotten Heroes). Plain and simple.
Some time after the violent merging of the Earths and the big battle which saw the Superheroes pitted against the Anti-Monitor, the subsequent wave of retcons finally began and the Pre-Crisis Earth-One Animal Man was "removed" from the main continuity and "locked" into the Limbo Dimension.
It was the Post-Crisis Earth-Sigma Animal Man to come back home, bearing a full set of (fuzzy and partially "faked") memories related to the Crisis and "his" role into the big battle.

I will provide a couple of scans later in the day. I completely forgot about one of the lines Buddy said that made me laugh I disagree off.
On a side note, my soundtrack for this series is Megadeths - Rust In Peace.
Notably - Holy Wars...The Punishment Due - this sound could fit this thing to a T.
-Hanger 18
-Rust in Peace...Polaris

Thats awesome Agent! Tell me it doesn't make a good soundtrack to this war? Ok, those promised scans(sorry if they are huge, still new to the scanner situation): These are the only scenes with Buddy - Adam has gone to Titans Tower to talk to his buddies, and as for help. Buddy's funny line, if you can't read the above:

Maverick,
The only Megadeath album I had was 'Killing is my business..', so I thought to revamp my knowledge about Dave and buy some old title from their back catalogue. I'm actually surprised by the strength and the power of 'Rust in Peace', what an awesome metal album.
However thanks! The panels are fantastic.
Yes, great soundtrack, you're right.

Can't forget Youthanasia I'll scan some more later on. I'm heading out for the weekend but will be back on Monday, so I can scan the rest of the comic if you want. Although I don't really like my scanner that much, its a POS I think.

Luckily for you I am down at my parents house and now have CDtoA in front of me.
The thing is tho, Buddy has no idea what animals he has absorbed, other than the usual Earth ones. That is what makes this so appealing, the fact that he basically has an endless list of animals to choose from, none of which he has any idea about at all until he tries them out.
Let me take a quick flip through these comics and I'll make a more concise list.
Edit: Look over in the CDtoA thread for the list.

I'm wondering... when Buddy "picks up" a specific animal, does he istantaneously know what abilities he will gain? I think not.
It looks like he's able to rationalize the new abilities only after he "absorbed" them. See Animal Man #2
