Well, no comics today. Forgot about Canada Day on Tuesday, so there is a one day delay.
This was the only new comic I was planning on picking up today, aside from maybe Jonah Hex (he goes to Canada in #33) so I don't know if I'll head down there this week, or just wait till next.

No one else is reading this?
Unfortunately, there's not a lot of Buddy in it. Its not his story, and that shows. In fact, Comet sees him more as dead weight than anything. Last issue he got blasted in the shoulder and had to be saved by Comet, then he was left off the 5 man team that went to Throneworld. Still lots of story left tho, so hopefully he will step up soon.

It doesn't sound like the writers of this book care much for Buddy. It seems he's only there because they wanted to use the other characters he is now associated with. Kind of dumb. What's the story like? I found the Rann/Thanagar War (The one associated with 52.) not all that great. It lacked substance, and was only a bunch of action stuck together with a flimsy storyline, and no characterization. I felt it had severe pacing problems, and jumped around too much.
But that's just my opinion. So how is this story doing? Any better?

Well, personally I enjoyed Rann/Than Part 1 a lot. I liked the whole scope of the thing.
This one has a much different tone however. Its got a lot of religious overtones this time, more than the other. I am enjoying it a lot, and the cast is just great.
As for Buddy...I wouldn't say hes just "thrown in there" really. This just isn't his story. Its about Throneworld, Hardcore Station and Rann, hence why Strange, Comet and Hawkman are the main players. Its all good tho, Buddy and Kori are there for a specific reason: So their collective memories of the Lady Styx virus can be beamed into the people of Rann through telepathy (Comet) to cure them of their misguided devotion to her. I'm sure both Buddy and Kori will play a larger roll once that takes place.

Excuse me, but it sounds like another "Justice League of Europe way" to use Animal Man as "filler"...

I agree. While it's nice to see that he is getting some recongnition; it would be better if they actually used him, instead of Buddy being an "also appearing" character.

"Animal dude" was mentioned in today's issue...that's it.
The story itself is pretty cool, and I am enjoying it, but I feel bad for people that are only getting this for Buddy.

Another instalment came out today. Needless to say, once again Buddy was in the background. But this time, so were almost all the heroes, as about 2/3s of this dealt specifically with Synnar and his history.
Basically he was the Demiuge, or Gods Archetect, from the dawn of time (almost). This essentially makes him the 2nd oldest being in the DCU. Very interesting story. Also of note, Synnar refered to Lucifer as "the bearerr of the light"
Synnar "My betrayal (of God/The Supreme Being) he considered far worse than that of Lucifer, the bearer of light."
