A little tidbit from another interview:
NRAMA: Animal Man?
DD: Animal Man came back to the DC Universe because Grant Morrison wanted to write him. Once Grant stopped writing him, we wrapped our arms around him and wouldn’t let him go back. The same with Doom Patrol. That’s just the way the system works. Characters like Swamp Thing are essential to the identity of Vertigo right now – that’s one of the things that Vertigo was built on. I know how important they are for Karen and the Vertigo line, and therefore these trains shall never meet.

I don't understand what's the meaning of that excerpt...

The title sounds ominous. Lets hope this isn't the end of Animal Man.

Yeah no kidding. He is a sorely under appreciated character in the DCU. Even still, I'd rather see a "grand send off" than simply see him vanish into the either.

Jesus Christ, the cover is beautiful! Well, I've read the plot... it sounds terrific, but we are getting to see NO Animal Powers whatsoever... or so it seems. Oh NO! Why don't writers realize his powers are the best in the whole DC universe?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Anyway, the plot is a blast!

Any day that there is an announcement of a new Animal Man book is a good day! Let's hope that all the people that read 52, Countdown to Adventure, and JLA 24-26 go out and buy this mini-series. Maybe then, the honcho's at DC will realize that he will need to have his own book again. There is a lot of time between now and 2024, and all of that continuity will have to be filled in. You have to love Bolland's homage to AM#1 with this cover. The insect(thingyroach?) still alive is a nice touch.
