Was Ironman any good? I'm seeing it this weekend. What other superhero movie is it comparable to?

I've heard nothing but good news about Iron Man, even from people that hate Marvel with a passion, including Iron Man himself. I've heard "its a superhero movie done right" by many people.
I too will probably see it this weekend. I'll post my review later.

in case i haven't mentioned it before, i run a movie theater. after iron man's 1st showing last friday, something odd happened that doesn't happen very often. after the movie, over half of the theater was clapping. like i said this doesn't happen very often and when it does it's usually a good thing.

That happened once when I was in a theater, at the end of Independence Day way back when. It is an odd thing to have happen...especially since the movie can't hear anyone clapping . Didn't see IM tonight, which means it will be a rental sometime down the road.

After the original SUPERMAN (1978) and X2: X-MEN UNITED, IRON MAN is the greatest comic book movie adaptation. Solid, witty screenplay; amazing effects; meaningful direction and, ABOVE ALL, Robert Downey Jr.'s superb acting performance. A masterpiece. IRON MAN stands apart like a great example of pure film-making, not only comic book-ish film-making. I bet the movie will cross the 500 millions of dollars mark at the worldwide box-office.
