As you can tell by the title, I'm interested in starting up some form of RPG/Fan Fic sort of deal on this site. I've talked to a couple guys already who might be interested, plus some other RPG buddies of mine from my Green Lantern RPG.
I'm really just looking to gauge interest at this point. I won't bore you with all the details yet, I'll just give you a quick little run down:
RPG Vs. Group Fan Fic:
Usually, with a traditional RPG, you have a Gamesmaster who dictates the story and the flow of events, then has the other guys add in their pieces to it. I'm not great with this myself, I prefer -->
Group Fan Fic: The "Gamesmaster" is replaced by an "organizer" and we abandon the traditional RPG format. Essentially what happens here is each person gets to have their input, as much or as little as they want, as to their character and the overlying story. We get together with ideas, then the Organizer forms them into a reasonable structure. It's a very open, free-flowing and "loose" format.
Anyway, I think it would be a lot of fun to showcase Animal Man, and perhaps some of the B-Listers we don't get to see very often. A few guys I was thinking:
Animal Man Geo-Force Metamorpho Red Tornado Starfire Starman (either or both Thom Kallor and Prince Gavyn) Booster Gold Blue Beetle + Anyone else you want.
As only one person could be Animal Man, I'd leave him open to someone else to use. I kinda like the idea of a B-listers team, but I won't limit anyone as to who they can use. Customs are of course an option too, and I figure if we use the Multiverse, we could always have an alternate version of someone too. On that note, we aren't limited to any sort of continuity we see in comics, we can pick and choose what we want.
Because I said I wasn't going to go into a huge amount of detail, and can already see myself making this way too long, I'll end it here.
Please, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask. I encourage everyone to ask whatever they want, as this whole thing might not be super clear yet.
Anyway, I hope we get a couple people who are interested, even with 4 we could have a lot of fun.
Looking forward to hearing your responses.

I havn't done anything like this before, but it sounds like fun. You will have to fill me in on the rules, details and format. Maybe a short practice game to get everyone up to speed. Why can't everyone be Animal Man? There are 52 versions of him arn't there? We don't have to fight over him.

i think, if this takes off, we should have a few different "books" going at once. have everyone contribute to the books that they want w/ each book haeing it's own cast.
i think that if we are telling 1 story w/ unlimited cast members, things will get a little confusing. the same goes for using the multiverse, too much room for confusion. we could do a crossover, after few chapters are done. maybe each person involved can name and cast a book w/ the others picking who they want to write in the different books.
i wouldn't mind getting in on this as long as there isn't some set strict deadline for idea submissions. w/ summer rolling around, i'm gonna be pretty busy but will contribute what i can.
anyway, just some thoughts on the subject.

here's another thought, instead of 52 versions of animal man running around, why not have animal man be the link to all the different stories/books? let each person involved write animal man in a different 1. and that person picks the cast of that particular story/book.
just another thought.

Sign me up. I'm ready for another RPG. As a fellow veteran of the GLC RPG, I would be happy to take up a new role. I personally think the format for the GLC RPG would work well here, IMHO. If we do get this going, and we d**n sure will, I'm in. BTW, this is my first post here. So, hi.

Yeah I think the best thing to do right now is just to keep it simple. Having everyone as Animal Man might get weird, but I like the idea of each of us using him here and there. Eventually someone will have to be the sole user tho, unless we do decide to do some crazy stuff and have two. Hell...we could grow his son up and give him powers I think we should just stick to one storyline for now, having us all in the same one. What we could do is have our individual little threads, where we could set up our characters, then after that all merge into the "Main RPG" thread sort of thing. Say someone wanted to be Freedom Beast, in their individual thread they could set up a situation where something happened to him, and it forced him to go look for help. Then we could each do something similar to that, random events that brings together a group of guys. Then in the "main RPG" we could come together as a team, and face whatever threat we need to. Although that might get complicated too. Really all we need is one thread for everything. Like in the other one, we had our intro stories, then we got together for a group mission, then we branched off. We could do something similar here. As for everything else, I'm not making any hard and fast rules for this thing, its a group effort by whoever is in. The only thing I usually like to have a "rule" about is how to label posts, thats about it. Theres also no strict deadlines or anything, its very free and open. As long as stuff makes sense, then I'm cool with just about anything. I mean we couldn't have the same guy in Africa and in New York at the same time right? that sort of stuff. The main thing is, if you guys are interested and want to do it, we can make anything happen that we want. We can throw ideas back and forth, and come up with someone everything is happy with, then go to town. Basically, if we decide to go through with this, we can make it work. It's all pretty easy once you get into it, its just the beginning hurdles we have to get over. I like having the idea of a practice run tho, why don't we give that a shot once we've decided upon characters and everything. I also have a friend of mine from my GLC RPG who will be joining us too, he's a very good RPGer, so maybe the two of us could do a mock run to show you guys what I'm talking about.

Also, I'm going to be down visiting my parents this weekend, so if we do decide to get this thing up and running, it will have to be sometime next week. I'll try to pop in when I can during the weekend tho.

We definitely need a start date and time for this thing. The sooner we pick one the better.

Heres a possible team we could form, (Credit to 1537)
earth - geo-force air - red tornado fire - firestorm water - aquaman animal - animal man plant - swamp thing magic - zatanna light - the ray dark - obsidian man/machine - robotman (doom patrol) wild card - Metamorpho
We could always add or remove guys, but I like this line-up a lot. Anyway, just a thought.

Looks like a great lineup but maybe we should pick our own heroes. That way no one is fighting over who wants to be who, in case their favorite is missing. I've got quite a few favorites here though.

Yeah for sure. I won't set any rules as to who you can pick. Personally, I'd rather we stick to some lesser known guys, but if someone wants Batman or Superman or WW I won't mind. We can fit in whoever we need.
I'd also say we should stay within loose continuity as well. If there is a guy you want to use thats "dead" then I don't see any problem using them either. No reason we should be constrained by the "real" continuity.
