The suspense of what's going to happen to Buddy with the conclusion of 52 is overwhelming. I hope it's an ending we'll enjoy. I see there will be a Booster Gold series after 52 and now rumors of a Black Adam series. If only DC would put Buddy back in a series of his own...

I suspect Buddy will at least appear in WWIII. The solicitation to WWIII #2 says...
The war rages on, extending from the far reaches of space, where Supergirl encounters a missing hero, to the darkest depths of the ocean, where the fate of Aquaman is revealed.
I assume the missing hero is Buddy. At least I hope. I still worry about the JLA #1 comment though. Will something still happen to Buddy before the end? I hope not!!!!

From 5.2 w/ MICHAEL SIGLAIN....
NRAMA: Okay – out in space, or, Space B, specifically - Buddy's been in this before, right? Back in his own series - is he once again, literally between panels of the story?
MS: Precisely. He’s operating in between the panels, but he’ll be back in our world very soon.
NRAMA: And probably to ward off the chorus of “huh?” that may be coming about being “in between panels…”
MS: Yeah – the trades of Grant Morrison’s Animal Man issues are where you want to go. You won’t be sorry.
NRAMA: As for looking into the mists of time - tell me spirit, is what Buddy seeing in the mists of the future, something that is to be, or something that still can be changed? Bad thingyens paraphrasing aside, he is seeing the future, right? Just before the end of 52, to be precise?
MS: Yep. Turns out that when the Ghost of Christmas Future disrobes, he looks just like those Yellow Aliens. And yes, Buddy is indeed seeing the future. Let’s just hope he makes it home in time.
NRAMA: That in mind - is Buddy's storyline still following the general outline of The Odyssey? You remember what happened to the dude who was making time with Odysseus’s wife, Penelope, right?
MS: Are you suggesting that we kill off Ellen’s suitor? Would we do such a thing?
NRAMA: And add to the body count of 52? Mortality in this series has been so…low, after all…
MS: [laughs]. Well…
NRAMA: Is Ellen's companion someone readers of the DCU would know?
MS: Astute Animal Man fans will know him as Buddy’s agent, Roger. And we haven’t seen the last of him yet.
My first thought was Roger, but the artist did not draw him correctly.

VERLETZ,
You're doing a fantastic work. Many thanks! You're keeping all my goals "fed", so to speak. That's why I created this board in the first place: information.
By the way, it seems that "our" Animal Man - Morrison's Animal Man - doesn't retain ALL of his past memories about the Second Crisis. Or maybe has this "second death" shocked his mind a little bit? He doesn't remember his "off-panels" powers anymore, but maybe he can "grasp" that there's an hidden plane of existence BEYOND his universe (OUR plane of existence, we readers).
I don't know, I'm still puzzled. So Buddy doesn't have recollection of the Second Crisis.
What's your thought, V.?

I think Buddy subconsciously remembers that he is a comic character. In the JLA series, Martian Manhunter read his mind, and commented that he would keep Buddy’s ideas on the fabric of reality to himself because they might upset other people. Lol!
I think the Infinite Crisis and other DC events have muted Buddy’s thoughts and experiences. I do think deep down he still knows the universe isn’t how it appears.
Only a few more weeks to go before we learn Buddy’s 52 fate!

Does anyone know if Animal Man was featured much if any in the Rann Thanagar War Mini-Series?

I can't remember if he had a cameo in issue #1 or not, but he is not featured in that series.

Well, I was wrong. No Buddy in WWIII mini.
The last page of 52 #50 shows (next issue previews) that Starfire visits Ellen to give her the bad news. Starfire will likely give Ellen Buddy's jacket. This is probably why Buddy sees Ellen has moved on in his glimpse of the future.
Now, I am confused. One Year Later in the Teen Titans series, it is revealed that Starfire never returned. So, did the TT not know what had happened? Did Starfire leave again right after her visit to Ellen. Ellen probably told the JLA what happened which is why they reference Buddy in issue #1 and say they need to visit Ellen.
So............What happened to Buddy?! Did he never return> Did he still die? I guess in two weeks we will know the answer.
Issue 52 of 52 comes out May 2nd along with the Animal Man action figure.

The new 5.2 article is up. Check out the first three pages from 52 #51! God, I hope it isn't a red herring. I am the eternal pessimist, so I can't help but think this is too easy an ending. forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=109688

Preview looks great. I hope DC isn't tricking us and that Buddy does indeed have a happy ending. Maybe then we can get a new series.

I have a feeling Buddy's story is going to end one of two ways. (Based on the JLA reference)
Either Buddy will have a happy reunion with his family, and word of his return simply hadn't made it to the Big Three by JLA #1.
or....
Booster and Rip Hunter will appear seconds after Buddy returns and grab him because they need his help to stop the end of the world. Buddy has also witnessed whatever T.O. Morrow saw in Red Tornado’s head in #50. Buddy also (probably subconsciously) knows the secret to 52. Supposedly Booster Gold gets a series after 52, maybe Buddy will be involved in that. Maybe like a Marvel’s Exiles book, exploring the returned multiverse.
Either way, we will know more this Tuesday thanks to Mazingman's 52 spoilers on the DC message board.

Thanks Mazingman...sounds good so far. Now let's hope issue #52 doesn't mess anything up! See below for the AM related 52 #51 spoilers.....
Cover has Red Tornado’s head with a number of gears that look like Earth along with a countdown 51,50,49,48
The ticker at the bottom of the page reads The Mystery in Space revealed…Time is broken…51 issues down and one more to go”
Homecoming
The book is penciled by Joe Bennett. The origin is the Justice League of America; written by Mark Waid and drawn by Ivan Reis.
Week 51, Day 1 California: Ellen arrives home from dinner with a family friend, Roger. As Ellen approaches the front door to her house she notices a bright glow behind her. When she turns around and back down the porch to the yard, she sees Buddy glowing and floating above the ground. When Ellen starts towards Buddy, he tells her not to come any closer since he is still solar powered. Buddy sits cross-legged while continuing to float and eventually lands on the ground. Ellen and Buddy are joined by their kids wearing sunglasses. Unknown to them, Buddy has been followed home. Voice 1: Target identified. Voice 2: Wait until weak, then kill for bounty. Voice 1: For Lady Styx.
Week 51, Day 6: Baker House: Buddy is telling his friends about what happened in space when the doorbell rings. When Ellen answers the door, she is met by two aliens holding guns at her; “Bounty for Lady Styx” “Die die die”. There is then a quick blast and both aliens are gone. Standing in the doorway is Kory who hands Ellen Buddy’s jacket and then passes out. Ellen: Did Roger order a stripper? Buddy: Ellen! Kory is space royalty. Cliff: Wow, she’s like ET-- but with double dd’s! Can we keep her?
Next in 52: The cover is much like Week One with a tombstone with the Questions hat on top, Ralph’s wedding ring on a chain hanging off it, Ralph’s costume wrapped around it and on the ground, Ralph’s flask on the ground and Isis’ headband on the ground with Starfire, Martian Manhunter, Steel, Animal Man, Booster Gold and Natasha in her Steel uniform standing behind.

Our books don't come out until Wednesday, so I LOVE mazingman's spoilers. I like to be prepared for bad stuff like when Buddy "died". Lol!
Let's hope next Tuesday we are still very happy!
